Real Estate Appraiser-assistant/researcher

Assist General Appraiser in developing and writing narrative appraisal reports for all types of public agency, litigation, and tax related matters. The work performed will qualify for experience credits towards an appraisal license. This is a unique opportunity for the right person to train one on one with a General Appraiser, who is also an appraisal instructor.

While this is a “work at home and work in the field” position, YOU MUST LIVE IN THE NY MSA as there are some partial days required in our Westchester County office for training and/or assignments. This is an assignment-based job (independent contractor – 1099) with compensation based on an hourly rate per assignment. The volume of work and frequency of new assignments will vary, but you must be must be regularly available during normal business hours and be able to commit to entire days when required.

Applicant must be willing to do field work throughout the Metro NYC area, Long Island, and the lower Hudson Valley counties. Also, in addition do phone interviews, in person municipal research, online, and database research. An automobile, laptop computer and phone with a good camera are required.

You must be able conceptualize and write well, be a self-starter who will diligently follow instructions, is able to work independently, reliably meet deadlines, and is extremely careful about quality and accuracy. Must also possess a “detective mindset”, be persistent and be able to communicate effectively and work with people. You must be computer literate, willing to learn new software and be willing to submit a writing sample and professional references (do not submit until requested). Experience with moderate to advanced real estate terminology is required. Only those living in New York City, on Long Island or in the lower Hudson Valley will be considered.
